Inaugural

The State Level Students’ Festival “Sargiful” is organized with the objective of exploring and showcasing the hidden talents of ST & SC students studying in schools under the ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department.

The State Level Sargiful – 2024 was held from 18th to 20th December 2024 at the Adivasi Exhibition Ground, Unit-1, Bhubaneswar. The festival was inaugurated by Sri Rabi Narayan Naik, Hon’ble Minister, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Odisha, in the august presence of other esteemed dignitaries.

On this occasion, the Science Exhibition and Volleyball Competition were also inaugurated by the dignitaries. Furthermore, the Top 10 best-performing SSD students, who had secured the highest marks in the HSC Examination 2024, were felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Guest and other dignitaries.

Competition

The Students’ Festival “Sargiful” provides a vibrant platform for students from SSD-run schools to exhibit their talents in diverse fields including literature, culture, personality development, and science.

The festival comprised two sessions each day — workshops in the forenoon and competitions in the afternoon. A total of 23 competitions were conducted over three days in the afternoon sessions, which included Instrumental Music, One Act Play, Solo Song, Solo Dance, Creative Writing (Odia), Painting, Elocution (Odia), Debate (Odia), Quiz Competition, Group Record Dance, Group Folk Dance, Open Slogan, Volleyball Competition, and Science Exhibition.

The Group Dance Competitions were specially organized every evening, both for ranking and entertainment. Among the events, the Science Exhibition was a major attraction, while the Volleyball Competition stood out as the only sports activity of the festival. Over the three days, students who secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in various competitions were awarded prizes in recognition of their achievements.

Workshop

Similarly, the Workshop segment was an important part of Sargiful, designed to actively engage students in a variety of creative, educational, and skill-based activities. Conducted during the forenoon sessions, these workshops covered a wide range of themes such as Tinkering, Coding, Cartoon/Comics, Disaster Preparedness by NCC Cadets, Magic, Chhau Dance, Instrumental Music, Creative Writing, Life Skill Education through Role Play, Life Skill Puppetry, Personality Development and Crafts (Paper Craft, Mask Making, Block Printing, etc.), Puppetry Making, Glass Painting, Storytelling, Poster Development, Child Reporting, Clay Modeling, Theatre, Best out of Waste, Math Games, Wall Mural Art, Letter Writing, and Fashion Show.

Through these workshops, students had the opportunity to explore new ideas, showcase their creativity, and develop practical skills in an engaging and interactive environment.

Meet the Personality

During Sargiful, students had the unique opportunity to interact with eminent personalities from diverse tribal backgrounds under the “Meet the Personality Programme”, which aimed to inspire and motivate them. This year, the distinguished guests included Sri Mangal Muduli (who cracked NEET-2024 and secured admission to MBBS at MKCG, Berhampur), Sri Binod Kumar Sabar (OCS Rank-600, Batch-2022), Sri Jayaram Badnaik (OCS Rank-650, Batch-2022), Sri Dhanapati Sisa (OCSE-2022, Rank-666), and Smt Raimati Ghiuria (recipient of an Honorary Doctorate from OUAT, popularly known as “Mandia Rani”).

They interacted with the students and shared their experiences, offering valuable guidance, motivation, and encouragement for building a bright future.

Valedictory Ceremony

Sri Nityanand Gond, Hon’ble Minister, ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department and Mass Education, Odisha, graced the Closing Ceremony of the State Level Sargiful – 2024 as the Chief Guest. On this occasion, the “Sargiful” Magazine, featuring contributions from SSD students, was formally released by the Hon’ble Minister and distributed among all participating students.

During the ceremony, prizes were awarded to the winners of various competitions, while 87 ST & SC students who had secured the highest marks in the Annual Board Examinations 2024 were felicitated. In addition, the Headmasters of 50 best-performing High Schools, 8 top EMRS students, 6 EMRS students from the CBSE Exam 2024, and 12 top students & 10 higher secondary schools from the CHSE Exam 2024 were also honoured in recognition of their contribution.
